On July 30, 1958, a small group of believers in Bradenton, FL, banded together to begin a new church. Over the next few months, the group met for regular worship services. Sunday School, prayer meetings, and youth meetings soon followed. By mid-October the Constitution, By-laws, and Articles of Faith were adopted. On November 9, 1958, Bethel Baptist Church was officially born. On December 25, 1958, Bethel was officially recognized as a Baptist General Conference church. Art and Ruth Westerhoff arrived at Bethel the middle of December 1958. Pastor Art was our first pastor and began serving in January 1959.
OUR LOCATION
Today, Bethel is located at 1805 - 30th Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida. God has blessed us with beautiful facilities, including our Sanctuary, Family Life Center, Fellowship Hall, Office Complex, and Educational Facilities. God has also given us a great pastral staff. Under the leadership of Pastor Joey Mimbs, we continue to see God do great things in our midst. Our membership is 400. While the average Sunday morning attendance is 300, we will see 450+ in our worship services during the Winter months.
OUR MESSAGE
The Bible is our standard of truth at Bethel. We believe it is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. We offer a number of Bible classes and Ministries that reach the entire family for Christ. You'll find a wide variety of opportunities for you and your family to help you grow in your faith, build relationships, and serve in the Body of Christ.
Jesus is at the heart of our message. We would love to tell you more about His Salvation that is offered as a free gift to all.
OUR WORSHIP
Bethel is known as a House for the Whole Family, Building Authentic, Generous Followers of Christ. Our Heritage Worship Service Sunday mornings at 8:15 am features the traditional hymns of the faith. Our Blended Worship Service Sunday mornings at 10:45 is a blend of hymns and contemporary praise music. Our Saturday Night Worship Service bagan January 8, 2011, and has contemporary praise and worship music. Wednesday evenings are filled with prayer and Bible study, children's ministry, youth ministry and choir and praise team.
